Baked Beans Recipe
Baked Beans Recipe to for afternoon or evening baby shower food ideas! It's a favorite side dish for a BBQ shower or Summer Splash baby shower! The flavor is awesome and makes the house smell great too. Or ... cook them in a crock pot outside to keep your house cool for your Sizzling Summer Splash Shower!
This recipe is also wonderful for the winter months to cook in the oven, providing a great aroma throughout the house. For a winter baby shower food menu, we would suggest a baked ham, which can be served in a casual atmosphere (buffet style ham sandwiches), or dress it up and serve sit-down dinner style with a crisp wild greens salad. Another salad idea for winter is a warm spinach salad, which also uses bacon as an ingredient. Enjoy!
- 6 cans beans (1 pork and beans, 1 great northern beans, 2 pinto beans, 1 black beans, 1 butter beans)
- 2 squirts yellow mustard
- 1½ cups catsup
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 large onion chopped
- 2 thick slices ham or bacon
Sauté ham or bacon with onions. Add to rest of ingredients in a large baking dish, stir together. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1½ hours.
Tip: If there is a bean type you don’t like, just substitute with an extra can of one of the others that you like!
This can also be made in a crock pot. After sautéing the meat and onions, put everything in a crock pot and cook on Low for several (about 4) hours. We like to plug the crock pot in outside during the summer months … keeps the heat outside!
